FIU Lead - Transaction Monitoring & Blockchain Investigations

About the role

BitGo is building its in-region Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) capability in Singapore. Reporting to the APAC Head of Compliance and working closely with the global FIU team, the FIU Lead owns the transaction monitoring and blockchain investigations function for BitGo Singapore, a Major Payment Institution licensed entity. This is a senior individual contributor role for a hands-on technical expert who operates with high autonomy and acts as the in-house subject matter expert on transaction monitoring and on-chain analytics in APAC.

Key responsibilities

• Review, triage and dispose of all transaction monitoring (TM) alerts to defined SLAs, document auditable rationales and escalate suspicious activity to the Compliance Manager for STR consideration.
• Design and implement automation such as rules-based auto-closure, alert enrichment with on-chain and KYC data and standardised case notes, and measure and report efficiency and quality gains.
• Own alert-handling procedures, QA sampling, SLAs and performance metrics, and tune scenarios and thresholds to reduce false positives and improve coverage.
• Trace fund flows across chains and protocols (mixers, bridges, DeFi, privacy tools, cross-chain swaps), identify exposure to sanctioned, illicit, darknet, scam, ransomware and high-risk counterparties, and produce investigation reports and case files.
• Identify emerging typologies and red flags, turn them into monitoring scenarios and staff guidance, and support STR drafting and responses to law enforcement and regulatory requests.
• Validate TM scenarios, risk-scoring and analytics models, including data integrity, coverage, threshold calibration, back-testing and below-the-line testing, and partner with Engineering and Data teams on data quality and lineage.
• Draft and maintain TM, investigation and escalation policies, SOPs and playbooks aligned with MAS requirements (Payment Services Act, MAS Notice PS-N02) and BitGo global standards, and support MAS inspections, audits and thematic reviews.

Required profile

• 5-7 years' experience in transaction monitoring, AML/CFT or financial crime investigations at a bank, payment institution, crypto or fintech firm, or an advisory/analytics firm.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as finance, law, computer science or data analytics.
• Strong written communication, able to explain complex findings to non-specialists and regulators.
• Independent, organised and comfortable owning outcomes in a lean team and a fast-moving environment.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with blockchain analytics tools (TRM Labs, Chainalysis and/or Elliptic) and on-chain tracing across multiple chains.
• Solid understanding of digital asset typologies (mixers, bridges, DeFi, stablecoins, sanctions evasion, scams, ransomware).
• Experience writing or validating TM scenarios, models or risk-scoring methodologies.
• Working knowledge of Singapore AML/CFT requirements for DPT service providers (Payment Services Act, MAS PS-N02, MAS guidelines).

Preferred: professional certifications such as CAMS, CGSS, CCI, CBE or CFE; experience in a MAS-licensed entity or regulated custodian, exchange or payments firm; experience with case management or TM platforms and automation or AI-assisted review; experience supporting regulatory examinations or independent audits of a TM programme.
