Corporate Counsel: Employment & Compliance

About the role

We are looking for a Corporate Counsel specializing in Employment and Compliance to join Gates, a leading manufacturer of fluid power and power transmission solutions. The role will provide daily legal advice across employment, labor, regulatory and risk matters, supporting business operations throughout the APAC region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on employment, labor, operational, regulatory and compliance issues.
• Draft, review and update employment documents such as offer letters, agreements, disciplinary and separation paperwork.
• Support internal investigations arising from employee complaints, hotline reports and incidents.
• Deliver country‑specific training on relevant legal topics.
• Manage contract disputes, employment and labor litigation, including discovery and legal holds.
• Develop and maintain compliance and risk‑management policies.
• Provide transactional documentation and due‑diligence support for M&A projects.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with a law degree from an accredited university.
• Active license to practice in a common‑law or other Asia‑Pacific jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of experience, preferably with both law‑firm and in‑house exposure.
• Full professional proficiency in English and Mandarin.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact at all organizational levels.
• Self‑confident decision‑maker with a proactive, solution‑oriented mindset.
