Engineering Leader – Payments (APAC)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Engineering Lead to lead our engineering efforts across APAC. You will be instrumental in developing and scaling payment innovations for our merchants, while leveraging this knowledge for global impact.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear guidance, purpose, and mission for engineering teams.
• Create an environment that fosters continuous innovation and positions us at the forefront of payments in the region.
• Develop and build a best‑in‑class, people‑first team with the right skills to lead and win.
• Serve as the primary face of engineering for regional merchants, building strong relationships and understanding their unique requirements.
• Partner globally to ensure delivery on a single platform while meeting specific market needs.
• Accountable for execution of key projects, ensuring timely delivery, tracking progress, removing blockers, and assisting with planning and prioritisation.

Required profile

• 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years leading high‑performing teams in global companies.
• Experience hiring and managing a sizeable software development organisation (ideally 25‑50 engineers) and setting an exemplary engineering culture.
• Proven ability to build large‑scale, distributed systems, with expertise in Java or similar languages and a passion for software architecture, scalability, and maintainability.
• Background in the Payments industry and strong communication skills to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
