Graduate Software Engineer (Fresher)

About the role

As a Graduate Software Engineer you will join HCL Singapore’s database administration team, monitoring and managing Oracle database events to ensure high availability and reliability. You will work closely with support and development teams to resolve alerts, handle backups, and manage user access.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor event alerts and promptly notify relevant teams, escalating issues to Level 2 and Level 3 support engineers.
• Track database availability, instance uptime, and disk/file‑system space to maintain optimal operation.
• Analyze Oracle alert, transaction and backup logs to identify and resolve issues.
• Respond to database‑related inquiries from application support and development teams.
• Monitor backup processes, handle recovery errors, and execute restoration requests.
• Detect performance bottlenecks such as high CPU/memory usage and perform query tuning.
• Process requests for database start/stop, user creation, and specific data access rights.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Willingness to learn and use infrastructure monitoring tools.
• Experience or academic exposure to monitoring database availability, performance, and storage usage.
• Familiarity with Oracle alert, transaction and backup logs.
• Basic understanding of backup and recovery processes and tools.
