Group Leader, Discovery Chemistry (Advanced Therapeutics)

About the role

We are seeking an elite synthetic chemist to lead our Discovery Chemistry group within a well‑funded national translation platform in Singapore. The role combines strategic scientific leadership with hands‑on bench work, driving advanced synthesis, purification, and platform expansion for next‑generation therapeutics.

Key responsibilities

• Establish, optimise, and scale high‑throughput solid‑phase synthesis workflows, expanding into novel scaffolds and bioconjugation strategies.
• Lead, coach and manage a growing team of research associates and scientists, fostering a high‑performing environment.
• Serve as the lead chemistry expert on multidisciplinary projects, collaborating with biology, delivery and pre‑clinical teams to assess manufacturability and nominate candidates.
• Manage external CRO networks for routine work while retaining core, IP‑generating chemistry in‑house.
• Invent new chemical compositions, prepare patent documentation and secure core technology assets.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Organic/Medicinal Chemistry or related discipline.
• Proven track record in pharmaceutical or biotech settings using modern synthetic chemistry methods.
• Demonstrated success advancing complex therapeutic modalities toward candidate selection, with patents, publications or regulatory disclosures.
• Experience in therapeutic discovery for metabolic, cardiovascular, chronic or sensory diseases is highly desirable.
