Healthcare Assistant

About the role

The Healthcare Assistant provides essential personal care and support to residents in a nursing home environment. Reporting to an Enrolled Nurse or Nursing Aide, you will ensure residents' comfort, hygiene, and daily needs are met with compassion and professionalism.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare residents for baths, assist with bathing, and perform personal hygiene duties.
• Help residents use toilets and bathrooms, and transfer them to dining areas or beds.
• Maintain clean and tidy resident spaces, change bed linen, and manage soiled linen.
• Check and change diapers regularly, and distribute commodes, urinals, and bedpans as needed.
• Assist with meal serving, feeding, and clearing crockery; escort residents to various areas.
• Respond promptly to call bells and attend to residents' needs.
• Support activities by assisting the Activities Coordinator with games and social events.
• Participate in monthly training programmes, clinical staff meetings, and follow directives from nursing management.

Required profile

• Basic Cardiac Life Support training preferred.
• Relevant nursing qualification such as a Caregiver Certificate (Nursing).
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role within a nursing home.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
