Principal Engineer – Dry Etch, Advanced NAND

About the role

Micron’s Advanced NAND Process Pathfinding team is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead dry‑etch development for next‑generation memory technologies. The role combines cutting‑edge plasma research, process integration, and data‑driven engineering to shape the NAND technology roadmap.

Key responsibilities

• Explore and implement advanced dry‑etch methods to meet structural, electrical, yield and integration targets across the NAND roadmap.
• Develop new plasma chemistries, process technologies and equipment capabilities for future technology nodes.
• Apply AI/ML, advanced analytics and statistical methods to accelerate process learning and improve etch performance.
• Drive automation, predictive modeling and data‑driven decision making for process pathfinding.
• Collaborate with Process Integration, Thin Films, Wet Etch, Diffusion, Lithography, CMP and Device teams to advance technology development and manufacturability.
• Leverage AI‑enabled engineering tools and digital workflows to enhance knowledge management and R&D productivity.

Required profile

• Practical experience with ICP and/or CCP plasma‑etch technologies in semiconductor process development.
• Strong understanding of plasma‑surface interactions, etch chemistry, profile control and dry‑etch equipment fundamentals.
• Solid foundation in plasma physics, materials interactions and semiconductor process integration.
• Experience developing and refining dry‑etch processes for advanced semiconductor technologies.
• Familiarity with statistical analysis, data analytics and process‑optimization methodologies.
• Ability to work efficiently across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
