Research Assistant/Associate in AI & Neuroscience

About the role

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) at NTU is seeking a Research Assistant or Research Associate to join the Neuroscience and AI Research (Nair) group. You will contribute to cutting‑edge projects that explore how machine learning models and neural circuits process emotional states.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze high‑dimensional brain data, document findings, and lead an independent research project.
• Develop and apply machine‑learning and computer‑vision methods, including large‑language and vision‑language models, for high‑throughput video analysis.
• Use data‑driven dynamical‑system modeling tools to uncover neural computations underlying emotion.
• Maintain specialized software repositories created by the lab.
• Assist in preparing grant applications, conference presentations, and drafting manuscripts for top neuroscience and AI journals.
• Participate in weekly lab meetings and journal clubs, presenting data or papers as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (Research Assistant) or Master’s degree (Research Associate) in computer science, neuroscience, computational biology, psychology, life sciences or related fields.
• Strong programming ability in Python and Matlab.
• Familiarity with large‑scale neural data such as imaging, electrophysiology, or video datasets is highly desirable.
• Interdisciplinary background welcomed.
