Research Fellow (Dept of Medicine)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Bioinformatics Research Fellow to join the Department of Medicine at the National University of Singapore. The role involves designing, implementing, and analysing complex statistical models and algorithms to extract insights from large‑scale biological data.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced statistical methodologies for analysing genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics data sets.
• Apply machine learning and data‑mining techniques to identify patterns, correlations and predictive models.
• Collaborate with researchers to design experiments and ensure appropriate statistical design and analysis.
• Perform hypothesis testing, clustering, classification and regression analyses on high‑dimensional data.
• Build and maintain bioinformatics pipelines and computational tools for data processing.
• Support projects from idea generation through design, implementation and monitoring.
• Develop research protocols covering recruitment, informed consent, data collection and analysis.
• Prepare study proposals, grant applications, statistical summaries and manuscripts for publication.
• Author high‑quality scientific articles for peer‑reviewed journals.
• Prepare budget proposals for research supplies and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with IRB and grantor requirements, including submissions and progress reports.
• Collect, analyse and report data with appropriate visualisations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• PhD in bioinformatics, statistics, computational biology or a related field.
• At least 2 years of post‑doctoral experience in bioinformatics or statistical genomics.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
