Senior Counsel, Product Legal (Yield)
airwallex · Singapore
Job description
About the role
Airwallex is scaling its Yield product, which lets customers earn returns on multi-currency cash by connecting to money-market funds, and is facing complex legal and regulatory questions across product design, partner arrangements, customer documentation and launch execution. This Senior Counsel role provides embedded legal support to the global Yield Product team, based in Singapore.
Key responsibilities
- Own legal support for the Yield team from product design and ideation through launch, market expansion and ongoing product changes.
- Advise on the legal and regulatory requirements for launching Yield or equivalent products in new jurisdictions, working with local regulators and external counsel.
- Translate cross-jurisdictional requirements into practical product decisions, including product requirements, customer terms, disclosures and launch-readiness materials.
- Build trusted relationships with Product, Regulatory Legal, Compliance, Licensing, Risk, Product Marketing, Operations and regulated partners.
- Develop scalable legal playbooks, launch checklists, governance processes and repeatable approaches.
- Partner across jurisdictions and time zones, including with colleagues in Australia, and coordinate advice across Singapore, the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe and other markets.
Required profile
- Qualified lawyer (Singapore or common law jurisdiction), JD or equivalent law degree, with 7+ years of post-qualification experience, including at a top-tier law firm or a comparable financial-services legal environment.
- Experience advising on investment products, wealth management, discretionary or non-discretionary investment management, broker-dealer arrangements, custodial relationships and related customer disclosures.
- Strong regulatory advisory and product counseling experience, including advising on licensing or the establishment of investment services, ideally including a U.S. broker-dealer or FINRA-regulated arrangement.
- Track record of working with non-lawyers and turning legal requirements into practical, commercially minded solutions.
- Preferred: in-house legal experience in fintech, financial services, wealth management, asset management, securities or brokerage; experience building legal playbooks and supporting product launches across markets such as Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, the Netherlands and the United States.
The role suits someone who makes decisions with incomplete information, enjoys working across countries and time zones, communicates directly and respectfully, and connects the big picture with the details. Applications are made through the company's careers site or LinkedIn page.
