Staff Software Engineer

About the role

As an engineer on the team, you’ll architect and solve complex problems that will directly influence the direction of the digital asset space. There’s a wide range of problems to solve at Gemini – from properly securing millions of dollars worth of customer funds, to developing innovative new blockchain products, to shaving microseconds off our API response times.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new products and product features on the Gemini platform, collaborating with a small team of developers.
• Write automated tests and partner with QA to ensure correctness and reliability of new features.
• Provide technical input during planning, design, and requirements gathering for upcoming products.
• Review code from other engineers for correctness, style, and security considerations.
• Improve performance, maintainability, and operations of the code base through refactoring and upgrades.
• Support production software by responding to alerts and bug reports as needed.
• Design, develop, and test operating‑system‑level software components.
• Oversee risk‑system functionality and develop monitoring tools for performance tracking.

Required profile

• At least 8 years of software engineering experience.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language; experience with Scala, C++, or Typescript is a strong plus.
• Ability to work closely across multiple teams and manage technical dependencies.
