Tax Principal – Tax Controversy

About the role

Amazon is looking for a Senior Tax Principal to lead its APAC Tax Controversy team. You will manage complex tax audits, litigation and dispute resolution across direct and indirect tax matters, APA and MAP processes.

Key responsibilities

• Strategise and manage tax audits and disputes across APAC jurisdictions.
• Maintain relationships with tax authorities and APA/MAP competent authorities.
• Prepare and coordinate responses to information requests, due‑diligence inquiries and other tax authority communications.
• Present technical tax issues to authorities and provide written/oral audit support.
• Support interview requests from tax authorities for business‑team members.
• Collaborate with internal Amazon Tax and non‑Tax stakeholders on controversy matters.
• Research, document and analyse tax issues from a controversy perspective.
• Manage external counsel and advisors on tax controversy cases.
• Implement process improvements to enhance team efficiency.

Required profile

• 14+ years of international tax experience in law firms, public accounting firms or multinational corporations, with a focus on tax controversy management.
• Proven ability to work across cross‑functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
• Comfortable in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment with high work standards.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
