Adjunct Associate Professor in Wine, Environment and Society

About the role

The Asian School of the Environment (ASE) at Nanyang Technological University, in partnership with the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CoHASS), seeks an Adjunct Associate Professor to lead an innovative interdisciplinary undergraduate elective that uses wine as a case study to explore the links between Earth systems, agriculture, culture and commerce.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver a cross‑disciplinary undergraduate elective that integrates environmental science, climate change, land‑use, cultural geography, economics and society through the lens of viticulture and the global wine industry.
• Develop teaching materials that translate ASE research on climate variability, soil science, landscape change and natural hazards for students from diverse academic backgrounds.
• Create curriculum drawing on CoHASS expertise in cultural geography, history, anthropology and the social study of food and consumption.
• Contribute to executive education programmes focused on environmental change, land use, culture and fine wine in the Asia‑Pacific region.
• Support engagement activities with donors, industry partners and external stakeholders through events, masterclasses and dinners.
• Collaborate with faculty across ASE, CoHASS, NBS and other NTU schools to strengthen interdisciplinary programming.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relevant to ASE or CoHASS.
• Recognised international wine industry credential (e.g., Master of Wine) or equivalent professional standing.
• Minimum 15 years of professional experience in the wine industry, covering commercial, communications and educational roles, with substantial experience in the Asia‑Pacific market.
• Proven track record as a wine educator, including design and delivery of formal courses.

Required skills
