Research Fellow / Research Assistant – Mixed‑Methods Behavioural Study

About the role

The Singapore Institute of Technology, in partnership with Singapore University of Social Sciences, is conducting a mixed‑methods behavioural insights study on second‑hand tobacco smoke exposure in public residential estates. The role supports the research team in coordinating fieldwork, analysing data, and co‑designing interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee fieldwork, including participant recruitment, scheduling, conducting focus groups, walk‑with interviews, and engagement sessions.
• Support research ethics applications, conduct literature reviews, and analyse existing administrative data.
• Code and analyse qualitative data; assist with questionnaire design, sampling, and statistical analysis of survey data.
• Draft progress reports, presentations, and documentation for stakeholders.
• Liaise across principal investigators and with the grantor on project deliverables.

Required profile

• Research Fellow: PhD in economics, psychology, sociology, public health, policy or related behavioural/social science.
• Research Assistant: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Experience in qualitative research (focus groups, interviews, ethnography) and/or quantitative survey research; mixed‑methods experience is an advantage.
• Strong writing skills for polished reports and presentations aimed at policy audiences.
• Well‑organised, able to manage fieldwork logistics independently, including evenings and weekends.

Required skills

• Proficiency with qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVivo, Atlas.ti).
• Proficiency with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R).
• Ability to produce high‑quality written reports and presentations.
