AI Data Engineer

About the role

Fugro is looking for an AI Data Engineer to design, build and maintain data pipelines, integrations and data structures that support AI, machine learning, analytics and automation solutions. The role uses approved enterprise data platforms such as Databricks and Microsoft Fabric (medallion architecture) to keep data reliable, secure, well-governed and ready for approved use cases. This is a 3-year fixed-term contract based in Singapore, open only to Singaporean or PR candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain data pipelines for AI, analytics and automation, ingesting and transforming data from enterprise systems, files, databases and approved platforms, and building reliable, scalable ETL/ELT processes.
• Integrate data across Microsoft enterprise systems, cloud platforms and business applications, and develop connectors, APIs or data services where needed.
• Implement monitoring, error handling, lineage and auditability for pipelines and datasets, and support data modelling for analytics, AI/ML and application use cases.
• Prepare and structure data for machine learning, support feature engineering and training and evaluation datasets, and work with AI/ML engineers on reliable, governed data inputs.
• Apply access control, privacy, security and data governance requirements, document data flows and transformations, and keep handover documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Data/AI or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience designing, building and maintaining data pipelines or data integrations.
• 0-1 years of formal people management experience; exposure to agile delivery and collaborative projects.
• Experience supporting AI/ML, analytics or automation solutions with reliable data inputs.

Required skills

• Strong SQL and Python/PySpark.
• ETL/ELT, data modelling, data quality and metadata management.
• Microsoft Fabric or Databricks with medallion architecture.
• CI/CD and git-based deployment workflows.
• Knowledge of dimensional modelling, federated versus centralized data platforms, and familiarity with Copilot 365, Copilot Studio, GitHub Copilot and Azure data services (Microsoft certifications a plus).
