AI Engineer (AIEH)

About the role

This AI Engineer position is hosted at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) under the office of the Vice President (Artificial Intelligence & Digital Economy). It sits within the AI Singapore (AISG) initiative, which brings together Singapore research institutions, AI start-ups and companies to support impactful research, develop talent and advance Singapore's AI efforts. The role works on industry partnership projects and AIAP-related programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end solution development for industry AI projects, from scoping to deployment and maintenance.
• Train and mentor AI apprentices during the Deep-skilling and Project phase and other umbrella programmes.
• Collaborate with industry partners to identify, scope and define project requirements and deliverables.
• Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies for potential industry collaborations.
• Participate in and help prepare and run the AIAP recruitment stages.
• Support AI Singapore's industry and community-building activities through talks, seminars, workshops, journals and other outreach programmes.

Required profile

• Degree with at least 4 years of work experience.
• Applicants from all disciplines are welcome.
• A strong portfolio of AI/ML projects showing delivery from scoping and data analysis through deployment and documentation.
• Deep, practical knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, with experience applying algorithms to NLP, computer vision or tabular data.
• Hands-on experience developing LLM-powered applications, including Prompt Engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and fine-tuning with modern frameworks.
• Expert-level Python skills and a commitment to software engineering best practices.
• Experience building data and model pipelines on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Eagerness to mentor and develop the next generation of AI talent.
