AI Engineer, Full Stack

About the role

This position is hosted at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) under the office of the Vice President (Artificial Intelligence & Digital Economy). It sits within the AI Singapore initiative, which brings together Singapore-based research institutions, AI start-ups and companies to support impactful research, develop talent and advance Singapore's AI efforts. The role is a hands-on full stack engineer working on a data platform that supports multimodal data collection, curation and access.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain frontend interfaces, backend services, APIs and data models for the data platform, using AI tools deliberately in the engineering workflow.
• Write clean, tested, maintainable code, take part in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation.
• Build features and tooling for model and data evaluations, benchmark execution and result tracking, and create interfaces and workflows for data annotation (task design, quality control, reviewer workflows).
• Integrate with evaluation frameworks, benchmark suites and annotation tools, and help decide between building or adopting solutions.
• Deploy and maintain the platform on Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services, including configuration, networking and storage.
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging and alerting, and manage cloud resources cost-effectively.
• Work with the Project Manager, data engineers, researchers and external partners to deliver features steadily, and take part in incident response and post-mortems.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
• Around 2-3 years of full stack development experience shipping production features.
• Experience deploying applications on GCP and AWS, including containerised workloads, managed services and CI/CD.
• Working knowledge of AI/ML evaluation, benchmarking and/or data annotation workflows and their tooling.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders across cultures and time zones.
