AI Research Scientist

About the role

Salesforce is looking for entrepreneurial AI Research Scientists to build, ship and scale the next generation of Enterprise AI. This is not a traditional research role: you will work like a founder, identifying high-impact research directions, prototyping AI capabilities, validating them with customers and turning strong concepts into production-ready solutions. The team works on Generative AI, NLP and Deep Learning, and publishes at top AI conferences while collaborating with product teams and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Own and pursue ambitious, long-term research goals and identify research directions that could transform Enterprise AI.
• Turn promising ideas into zero-to-one AI product prototypes.
• Work directly with customers to validate needs, test solutions and refine product direction.
• Build robust models, agents and AI systems for real-world enterprise use.
• Lead teams (as needed) to deliver complex pure and applied research projects.
• Partner with product, engineering and go-to-market teams to bring solutions to market.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or a related technical field.
• Publication record in top AI venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, CVPR, ECCV or ICCV.
• Proven ability to conduct independent research and deliver results at large scale.
• Comfortable with ambiguity, able to move with urgency and care about customer adoption as well as technical innovation.

Required skills

• Experience with general-purpose programming languages (C/C++, Python, etc.).
• Experience with deep learning libraries and platforms (TensorFlow, JAX, PyTorch, etc.).
• Experience with Python and modern deep learning frameworks.

Preferred: full-time industry experience in deep learning research or product, experience training large language models, mentoring other researchers, strong programming skills, and excellent written and spoken communication skills.
