AI Safety & Governance Engineer (SAGE)

About the role

This position is hosted at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) under the office of the Vice President (Artificial Intelligence & Digital Economy). It sits within the AI Singapore (AISG) initiative, a national effort supported by MDDI, IMDA and NRF that brings together research institutions, AI start-ups and companies. The role focuses on LLM safety testing, red teaming and governance.

Key responsibilities

• Execute automated LLM safety testing pipelines integrated with GitLab CI/CD as a mandatory gate before project delivery.
• Conduct red teaming and adversarial testing, including prompt injection, jailbreaking, data leakage, RAG poisoning and multi-turn attacks.
• Review LLM system architectures (agentic, multimodal, RAG) for security vulnerabilities and give design recommendations.
• Document vulnerabilities with severity ratings, reproduction steps and remediation guidance.
• Support compliance with AI safety standards such as ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF, OWASP LLM Top 10, MITRE ATLAS and the Singapore Model AI Governance Framework.
• Train and mentor AIAP apprentices on responsible AI engineering during deep-skilling and project phases.
• Contribute to AI Singapore's community building through talks, workshops and documentation.

Required profile

• Degree with at least 2-4 years of work experience; senior-level appointment may be considered based on relevant experience.
• Applicants from all disciplines are welcome.
• Strong technical writing skills for vulnerability reports and compliance evidence.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of LLM architectures, prompt engineering, RAG and API integration.
• Experience with vulnerability assessment, adversarial testing or penetration testing.
• Ability to review system architectures and recommend secure designs for agentic, multimodal and RAG applications.
• Proficient Python with clean, maintainable code; testing frameworks such as pytest and unittest.
• Familiarity with Git, Docker and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab or GitHub).
