Archivist – Metadata & Declassification Specialist

About the role

The National Library Board is seeking a forward‑thinking Archivist to support the National Archives of Singapore. Working in a hybrid environment, you will help shape metadata governance and drive the declassification of government records, enhancing public access to Singapore’s documentary heritage.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate metadata governance initiatives for archival collections.
• Research, document and model archival context, including the history of government agencies.
• Apply standards such as Records‑in‑Contexts (RiC) to model collections.
• Conduct internal studies and pilots to assess the value and sustainability of new processes.
• Collaborate with government agencies to review files and identify sensitive content for declassification.
• Develop workflows and explore technology solutions to improve archival access and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Strong interest in archival principles, metadata standards and government records.
• Ability to conduct detailed research and produce clear documentation.
• Excellent analytical skills and a user‑centric mindset.
• Effective communication and collaboration with internal teams and external agencies.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Records‑in‑Contexts (RiC) or similar archival metadata standards.
