Assistant Chef – Western Cuisine

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Chef to support the kitchen team at Jerry's Barbecue & Grill. The role involves assisting with daily food preparation for Western dishes and ensuring high standards of quality and hygiene.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare vegetables, meat, chicken, seafood and other ingredients for Western menu items.
• Assist in cooking steaks, grilled meats, burgers, pasta, salads and sandwiches.
• Perform basic food preparation tasks such as cutting, peeling, slicing, portioning and marinating.
• Help the chef with grilling, frying, baking and other cooking methods as needed.
• Prepare sauces, dressings and other components according to recipes.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, workstations and food preparation areas.
• Assist with receiving, checking and storing food ingredients.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Western restaurant or kitchen is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
• Ability to follow recipes and work efficiently in a busy environment.
• Good personal hygiene and food safety awareness.
• Physically fit and able to stand for long periods; willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Responsible, hardworking and eager to learn.
