Assistant Cook – Full‑Time Kitchen Support

About the role

The Assistant Cook supports the kitchen team by keeping the work area clean, preparing ingredients, and ensuring the Cook has everything needed to run the service smoothly. This is a full‑time, on‑site position within a fast‑paced restaurant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Cook with food preparation tasks such as cleaning, cutting, chopping and peeling ingredients.
• Clean and sanitise preparation areas in line with hygiene and safety standards.
• Wash, disinfect and store kitchen utensils, equipment and cookware.
• Receive, weigh, store and manage inventory of food supplies.
• Operate kitchen appliances and tools including knives, cutters, mixers and ovens.
• Maintain an organised storeroom and unload deliveries.
• Support inventory control, monitor food costs and help keep expenses within budget.

Required profile

• Ability to work shift patterns, including evenings and weekends.
• Willingness to follow strict health, safety and cleanliness protocols.
• Basic understanding of kitchen operations and food handling.
• Capability to contribute to menu development and improvisation.
