Assistant Director – Infrastructure & Cloud Operations

About the role

The Assistant Director (Infrastructure & Cloud Operations) will join a lean two‑person infrastructure team as a senior individual contributor. Working in a vendor‑managed environment, you will balance governance, vendor coordination and hands‑on technical execution to keep hybrid on‑premises and cloud platforms stable, resilient and well‑governed.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day infrastructure operations across network, compute, storage, backup and end‑user platforms in hybrid environments.
• Perform configuration changes, first‑line troubleshooting, deployments, patch oversight, backup validation and health‑check monitoring.
• Establish and maintain operational KPIs, dashboards and reporting; drive standardisation, automation and process optimisation.
• Act as technical escalation point for incident, problem and change management, reducing recurring issues.
• Operationalise cloud foundations (landing zones, networking, identity integration, monitoring, backup, DR and cost governance) for AWS and Azure.
• Support migration activities – discovery, cut‑over and hyper‑care – and ensure post‑migration stability.
• Identify and implement optimisation opportunities such as right‑sizing, scheduling and storage tiering.
• Oversee end‑user computing services through vendors, managing provisioning, lifecycle refresh, patching, encryption and license compliance.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with strong hands‑on experience in hybrid infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Proven ability to work in a small team, own domains end‑to‑end and coordinate with external vendors or MSPs.
• Demonstrated experience in cloud migration, operational stability and cost‑governance.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a focus on reducing operational risk.
