Assistant Electrical Engineer – Sustaining

About the role

BeeX is seeking a hands‑on Assistant Electrical Engineer to support the sustaining of its Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicles. You will work closely with the Sustaining Lead and CTO, troubleshooting and repairing vehicle subsystems both on‑site and in the workshop.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and system faults across all vehicle subsystems, including power systems, motor drives, sensors and chassis.
• Disassemble, repair or rework components such as pressure hulls, thrusters, PCBs and wire harnesses, then verify functionality through testing and sea trials.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis on recurring failures, document findings and drive corrective actions.
• Provide on‑call technical support to field operators, offering remote triage and step‑by‑step guidance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, fault logs, repair reports and service guides for the fleet.

Required profile

• Diploma or B.Eng in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• 1‑3 years of hands‑on experience in technical maintenance, field engineering or systems integration; marine or robotics experience is a strong plus.
• Self‑driven, dependable and able to take ownership of issues through to resolution.
• Strong written communication skills for clear fault reports and SOPs.

Required skills

• Electrical troubleshooting using multimeter, oscilloscope and bench power supply.
• Software diagnostics – navigating logs, using SSH/CLI tools and performing firmware updates.
• Experience with ROS/ROS2 environments.
• Electronics assembly, soldering, crimping and wire‑harness fabrication.
• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings.
