Assistant Manager - Electrical Engineering & Project Management

About the role

An established Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) engineering group with a strong track record in design, build and facilities management is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of construction projects. Working across commercial, industrial and environmental-related projects, the role ensures delivery excellence from planning through to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day project activities and resources, working regularly with project engineers, site supervisors and site teams.
• Plan and schedule materials, sub-contractors and workforce so projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget.
• Ensure project execution complies with approved drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate internal resources, sub-contractors and vendors, and apply project methodologies to coordinate multi-discipline teams.
• Troubleshoot issues during execution and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Manage changes to scope, schedule and costs using verification and change-control techniques.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Build relationships with clients, main contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers, and support ad-hoc projects as directed by management.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering.
• More than 5 years of project management experience in construction for diploma holders; 2-3 years for degree holders.
• Experience managing and supervising construction teams.
• Knowledge of construction materials, methods and regulations.
• Able to commit to overtime and weekend work when required.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Proactive, solutions-oriented communication with diverse stakeholders.
