Assistant Manager, Research and Partnership

About the role

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at NTU is seeking an Assistant Manager for Research & Partnership. Reporting to the Head of Research & Partnership, you will help build collaborations with academia, industry and government while supporting faculty research administration.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Associate Chair (Research) and Head of Research & Partnership in daily operations of the Research and Partnership Office.
• Act as Unit Manpower Officer, managing researchers’ budget allocations across multiple grants and ensuring compliance with funding agency guidelines.
• Review and manage payroll projections for research grants, including salaries, bonuses, SDL, employment pass fees and insurance.
• Process manpower variation requests such as new hires, contract renewals, transfers and position upgrades.
• Plan and coordinate seminars, industry engagements and other research‑related events, handling logistics, stakeholder coordination and budgeting.
• Coordinate institutional grant calls and nomination exercises, ensuring timely dissemination and submission.
• Provide support to faculty throughout the research grant lifecycle and maintain research data management for audit readiness.
• Undertake additional administrative projects as assigned.

Required profile

• A recognised Bachelor’s degree.
• No prior work experience required; experience in research grant or project management is an advantage.
• Good understanding of the research ecosystem.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, resourceful and independent.
• Proactive, positive attitude and meticulous attention to detail.
