Assistant Manager / Senior Executive - Lab Operations

About the role

Nanyang Technological University's College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) in Singapore is hiring an Assistant Manager / Senior Executive for Laboratory Operations. The role supports the operations, infrastructure and technical environments of CCDS graduate research laboratories and centralised research computing facilities, including GPU, server and specialised research equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the operational readiness, reliability and effective functioning of laboratory and research computing infrastructure, including the configuration, deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting of workstations, servers and GPU-enabled systems.
• Coordinate procurement, vendor management and asset lifecycle activities so that research infrastructure and equipment are maintained and available for faculty, researchers and students.
• Administer laboratory access, safety, compliance and audit requirements so that research environments follow relevant policies and standards.
• Work with faculty, researchers, students and other stakeholders to coordinate infrastructure requirements and improve the efficiency of research laboratory and computing operations.
• Use Generative AI and AI-enabled tools where appropriate to improve information analysis, technical documentation, workflow automation, troubleshooting and operational productivity.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computing, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in technical support, infrastructure administration, laboratory operations or research computing environments.
• Good working knowledge of Generative AI and modern AI productivity tools, applied to technical, operational, analytical and administrative work.
• Strong organisational, troubleshooting, analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills, able to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.

Required skills

• Linux is required.
• Scripting or programming such as Python, Bash or PowerShell is advantageous.
• Experience with servers, GPU systems, workstations, virtualisation, cloud platforms, scientific computing or AI/ML research infrastructure is advantageous.
• Professional certifications in AI, Generative AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing or IT Infrastructure are advantageous.
