Assistant Microbiologist

About the role

Eurofins Scientific, an international life sciences company offering analytical testing services, is hiring an Assistant Microbiologist in Singapore. The role covers routine and non-routine microbiological testing, laboratory maintenance and quality compliance under the supervision of Senior Microbiologists, the Principal Microbiologist and the Lab Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Perform microbiological testing on routine and non-routine samples according to established SOPs and client requirements, within holding time and turnaround time.
• Prepare culture media, reagents and laboratory supplies in line with quality standards.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, and perform internal QC duties on time.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory quality systems including GLP, ISO 17025 and SINGLAS, and take part in proficiency tests and interlaboratory analyses.
• Maintain aseptic technique and biosafety procedures, and keep the laboratory clean through daily and scheduled housekeeping.
• Maintain laboratory inventory and stock levels to minimise wastage.
• Escalate issues to the immediate supervisor and carry out any additional tasks assigned by the Senior Microbiologists, Principal Microbiologist or Lab Manager.

Required profile

• Minimum diploma in Biological Science, Microbiology or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience, excluding internships.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Good communication skills, teamwork orientation and adaptability to changes in schedule and operations.
• Good analytical skills and understanding of scientific writing.
