Associate, Automation & Control Engineering

About the role

As an Associate in Automation & Control Engineering at Alcon, you will maintain and support MES/SCADA applications for the LS1/DMS Flex Lens manufacturing platform and chemical production. The role focuses on delivering timely support, continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑level support and operation of MES and SCADA systems for lens manufacturing and chemical production.
• Implement system changes, enhancements, and bug fixes for the MES platform.
• Conduct routine health checks on servers and system infrastructure.
• Support MES/SCADA projects by developing and reviewing documentation, including URS, IOQ protocols, SOPs, and performing computer system validation.
• Investigate non‑conformances, field action assessments, and participate in customer complaint investigations.
• Liaise with site, global, and regional teams to maintain effective working relationships.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, GDP, GMP, and Alcon corporate policies.
• Contribute to data‑driven smart manufacturing initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
• 1–2 years of experience in engineering or manufacturing, preferably in medical‑device or pharmaceutical environments.
• Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
• Strong problem‑solving skills with experience in advanced manufacturing equipment engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with automation engineering, PLCs, and IT infrastructure/networking.
• Good communication abilities and capacity to lead a team.
• Six Sigma certification (preferred) and familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11 (preferred).
