Associate, Aviation Finance

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is recruiting an Associate for its Aviation Finance (AF) team in Singapore. The role supports the promotion and expansion of the AF business to target and grow customers in the Asia Pacific region (for example Japan), and covers operational, research and auxiliary matters of the team.

Key responsibilities

• Support the AF team in the origination and execution of deals, working closely with MUFG branches and other divisions to meet team profit targets and KPIs.
• Prepare and update internal reports on AF transactions.
• Prepare borrower ratings and credit analyses for existing and prospective clients.
• Sourcing and sharing market information with GAFO on clients, investors, financing partners and other market participants.
• Manage and develop relationships with existing and prospective clients to originate mandates for debt issuance and arranging, including warehouse financings, portfolio financings, PDP financing, ABS-type transactions, JOLCO financing and airline structured bonds, and cross-sell the full product suite.
• Ensure transaction risk profiles fit the bank's requirements, assess transaction risks and obtain necessary credit approvals.
• Monitor credit compliance for executed transactions not yet transferred to AF-PM and comply with MAS regulations and MUFG group policies.
• Liaise with departments and work with GAFO as a global aviation team.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of work experience, preferably in a similar capacity, in banking, aircraft leasing, consultancy firms or a related industry.
• Degree holder.
• Excellent written and oral English, both internally and with customers.
• Self-motivated, team player, customer focused and able to work independently.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of banking processes.
• Good knowledge of legal principles and aircraft finance documentation.
• Analytical and credit skills, including financial analysis.
• Business acumen and strong deal-closing sense.
