Associate Consultant

About the role

The Associate Consultant position at NUHS is responsible for patient care and for leading staff at all levels, including teaching, training and research. Duties are carried out under the direction of the Head of Department, in line with hospital and Ministry of Health policies and guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patient care and lead staff in teaching, training and research.
• Demonstrate good technical skills, including operative and procedural skills, and show expertise in your sub-specialty.
• Attract referrals in your sub-specialty areas and manage complex medical problems and complications.
• Improve standards of clinical practice and introduce new treatments and procedures.
• Establish the scope of human subject research in your area, collaborate with cross-disciplinary partners, and uphold research ethics while managing conflicts of interest.
• Inform and consult the Head of Department early on serious or major clinical situations affecting patients.
• Be ready to perform the duties of the next lower grade if necessary.

Required profile

• Specialist who has completed both basic and advanced specialist training.
• Registered with the Singapore Medical Council and accredited as a Specialist by the Specialist Accreditation Board, Ministry of Health.
