Nurse-in-Charge, Blood Resources (Bloodbank)

About the role

The Health Sciences Authority's Blood Resources Division is seeking an experienced Nurse-in-Charge to lead its Bloodbank team at Bloodbank@Westgate Tower. The appointee is pegged at the level of Assistant Nurse Clinician / Senior Staff Nurse and oversees daily operations, manages donor services and ensures high standards of blood collection and quality management.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee whole blood collection programmes and lead and manage blood collection staff
• Keep the blood collection centre running smoothly with management, maintaining high standards of donor and blood product management
• Conduct machine validation and calibration procedures
• Coach and mentor staff, assist in competency and proficiency assessments, and support quality management and Blood Bank audits
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standard operating procedures
• Provide clinical support for donor management, including medical screening, and handle donor complications and adverse events
• Ensure donor safety and satisfaction, and conduct research or lead projects focused on clinical or process improvement

Required profile

• Advanced diploma or degree in Nursing with relevant experience as a registered nurse, and a valid Singapore Nursing Board registration
• At least 2 years of experience as an Assistant Nurse Clinician (ANC)
• Experience leading operational teams in a managerial position
• Commitment to weekend shifts; each bloodbank operates 6 days a week, 9am to 8pm, with rotating morning, afternoon and weekend shifts and no night shifts
