Associate Research Scientist (WDA) - Fish Vaccine Assays

About the role

MSD's Animal Health Division has a research and development centre in Singapore focused on fish vaccines. Within the Biochemistry Section, the team is moving toward modern, humane and reproducible testing platforms, championing the 3Rs principles by developing, validating and transferring in-vitro release assays to replace traditional in-vivo fish-release testing for batch release and quality control. This is a career conversion programme under Workforce Singapore (WSG) for Singaporeans/Singapore PRs, open to PMETs and mid-careerists with no prior biopharma experience, on a two-year contract.

Key responsibilities

• Learn and run in-vitro biochemical and immunochemical assays such as ELISA to replace live-fish release testing for quality control
• Receive training on sample collection, diagnostic testing workflows and measuring specific antibody responses after vaccination
• Help programme and operate automated liquid-handling systems and analytical instruments as methods mature
• Follow SOPs, biosafety guidelines and data integrity standards in a regulated laboratory
• Document raw data, compile trend reports and carry out statistical evaluations for technical review and compliance audits

Required profile

• Degree in a relevant technical field (Aquaculture, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Sciences or similar)
• At least 2 years of experience
• Learning agility and growth mindset, with methodical problem solving and attention to detail
• Clear verbal and written English and ability to work in cross-functional teams
• Commitment to a long-term career in biotechnology, biomanufacturing or quality assurance
