Associate/Full Professor – Optimization, Control & Scientific Computing

About the role

We are seeking an Associate or Full Professor to lead research and teaching in Optimization, Control and Scientific Computing at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, research‑intensive environment and contribute to multidisciplinary programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in applied mathematics, optimisation and control.
• Establish a world‑class research programme in computational optimisation, scientific computing and scientific machine learning.
• Secure competitive research funding from grant agencies and industry partners.
• Mentor and supervise PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and research interns.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across mathematics, computer science and engineering, including industry partners in AI and cloud computing.
• Participate in departmental administration and service activities.

Required profile

• PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related field.
• Strong international research record with publications in peer‑reviewed journals and conferences.
• Demonstrated experience supervising graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
• Recognition in the research community (e.g., invited talks, awards, professional society memberships).
• Experience in cross‑disciplinary collaborations and industry engagement.
