Automation / MES Engineer – Pharma Manufacturing

About the role

Amaris Consulting is seeking an experienced Automation / MES Engineer to support digital manufacturing and shop‑floor systems within a pharmaceutical environment. You will act as the bridge between business, manufacturing, and IT teams to ensure reliable operation and continuous improvement of manufacturing technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of shop‑floor systems, including MES, Data Historians, and integration solutions, to guarantee operational reliability.
• Gather functional requirements from business and manufacturing stakeholders and translate them into effective technology solutions.
• Evaluate and compare MES and shop‑floor platforms, recommending optimal solutions based on capabilities and technical fit.
• Facilitate IT/OT integration by supporting plant connectivity and industrial system interfaces.
• Partner with infrastructure teams to define server, hardware, memory, and architecture requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across applications, infrastructure, and shop‑floor systems to maintain uptime.
• Support project, change, incident, and problem management activities related to manufacturing systems.
• Drive digital manufacturing, Smart Factory, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, Automation, Manufacturing Systems or related field.
• 4–6 years of experience in manufacturing systems, MES, automation, or IT/OT environments.
• Proven experience with MES or shop‑floor systems, preferably in GxP‑regulated pharmaceutical settings.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills across business, technical, and global teams.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
