Automotive Mechanical Engineer (Commercial & Electric Vehicles)

About the role

We are seeking a senior Automotive Mechanical Engineer to lead diagnostics and repair of commercial and electric vehicles at our Jurong Island facility. The role involves advanced technical analysis, guidance of workshop staff, and collaboration with manufacturers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting and technical analysis of mechanical, electrical and electronic systems on commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and support repair of Euro 6/China 6 engines, emission after‑treatment and transmission systems, including parameter configuration and system programming.
• Diagnose and support new‑energy vehicle motor, electronic control and electrical systems, handling complex faults.
• Apply manufacturer‑specific technical specifications, diagnostic procedures and repair standards for the vehicles distributed by the company.
• Provide technical guidance and supervision to workshop technicians, ensuring repair quality, safety and compliance.
• Liaise with manufacturers or headquarters on complex technical issues and product‑related matters.
• Conduct technical training and knowledge transfer to local technicians, sharing diagnostic methods and best practices.
• Analyse recurring technical issues and recommend root‑cause solutions and process improvements.

Required profile

• Diploma, Higher NITEC, NITEC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Technology or related discipline.
• Knowledge of commercial vehicle mechanical systems, diesel engines, Euro 6/China 6 emission and after‑treatment systems, and vehicle electrical/electronic systems.
• Experience with Sinotruk or other Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturers is highly advantageous.
