Backend Applied Machine Learning Engineer Graduate (AML Efficiency Tool)

About the role

The Applied Machine Learning (AML) team at ByteDance is looking for a graduate backend engineer to help build and evolve Lagrange, the central console platform supporting AI‑related engineering workflows. You will work on large‑scale recommendation and AI systems, contributing to platform architecture, scalability, and operational intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the Lagrange console platform for AI engineering workflows.
• Analyse user needs and deliver software solutions that improve engineering productivity and system reliability.
• Work on platform architecture, scalability, and operational intelligence for large‑scale AI services.
• Create infrastructure and pipelines that make AI development more efficient, reliable, and intelligent.

Required profile

• Currently completing or recently graduated with a Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science or a related field.
• Proficient in at least one programming language: Python, Golang, or C++.
• Experience with common storage and middleware such as MySQL, Redis, and message queues.
• Familiarity with Python frameworks (Flask, Django, Tornado, Celery, NumPy) or Go frameworks (Beego, Gin, Gorm, Sarama, gRPC‑Go).
• Understanding of time‑series and OLAP databases like OpenTSDB, Prometheus, InfluxDB, ClickHouse.
• Strong sense of responsibility, good learning ability, communication skills, and documentation habits.
