Blast Engineer – Protective Technology & Structural Engineering

About the role

Prostruct, a specialist consultancy within the SJ Group, is seeking a proactive Blast Engineer to design and plan protection solutions for buildings and infrastructure against explosions and dynamic effects. You will work on projects from concept to completion, collaborating with clients, consultants, and contractors to deliver safe and future‑ready environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyse and plan structural engineering works.
• Design, analyse and plan protection measures for buildings and infrastructure against blast loading and other dynamic effects.
• Design, analyse and plan security system engineering solutions.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors and authorities throughout project lifecycles.
• Prepare and submit plans, reports and tender documents to authorities and clients.
• Manage projects to meet time, cost and quality objectives.
• Coordinate site progress, conduct inspections and attend construction meetings.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering recognised by the Professional Engineers Board.
• Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Tekla and ETABS.
• Knowledge of design and analysis of structures under dynamic loading (blast, shock, vibration) is advantageous.
• Understanding of modern electronic security technologies is a plus.
• Strong interest in counter‑terrorism and homeland security.
• Good communication skills, team orientation and self‑motivation.
• Candidates with >4 years experience may be considered for a Senior Blast Engineer role.
