Budget Manager & Data Analyst (Contract)

About the role

The Budget Team is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Budget Manager to support its budgeting, financial planning, reporting and data analytics functions. The successful candidate will be offered an 11-month employment contract.

Key responsibilities

• Funding evaluation: review and assess project funding proposals across divisions against strategic objectives, operational priorities and funding guidelines, advise divisions on project cost computations and ensure accurate use of funding structures.
• Budgetary management: prepare and submit budget returns to MOF and MND, monitor project details (funding sources, periods and balances), run manual budget checks in Workday before approving virements, flag variances and shortfalls, and support year-end closing including unresolved supplier invoices.
• Financial and planning analysis: forecast finances, perform variance analysis, and build management reports and dashboards with data visualisation tools covering budget utilisation, project expenditure and funding positions.
• Governance: prepare audit schedules, reconcile grant movements at year-end, resolve system queries on budgetary controls and ensure compliance with internal policies.

Required profile

• Study in Accountancy, Finance or other relevant professional qualifications.
• Experience in budgeting and grant management.
• Strong analytical skills, self-motivated and resourceful, with good time management, planning and organisational skills.
• Effective communicator, good team player, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Data analytics and visualisation tools such as Power BI and Python.
• Familiarity with financial reporting systems; Workday experience is an advantage.
