BX COO Business Oversight Compliance (APAC)

About the role

Barclays is hiring a Vice President for the BX COO Business Oversight Compliance role, providing specialist compliance coverage across APAC for technology, cybersecurity, data, AI, business resilience and third-party risk management (including outsourcing and cloud services). The role leads relationships with COO teams and acts as the main point of contact for key business activities, initiatives and general compliance advisory, while supporting bank-wide projects and regulatory developments with colleagues in the Chief Control Office, Legal, Operational Risk, Resilience, Information Security and other compliance areas.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and assess compliance risks through reviews of business activities, changes, processes, testing and systems, and investigate potential market abuse, money laundering, terrorist financing and other financial crime
• Oversee corrective actions and preventative measures, and implement compliance policies aligned with regulatory and international standards
• Collaborate with 1LOD, other compliance teams, legal and risk management functions, and advise stakeholders and senior management
• Manage and mitigate risks, strengthen controls and support the delivery of the Compliance Plan
• Support major growth initiatives and business change across APAC, including product approvals and strategic projects, and provide compliance support for regulatory enquiries, incident reporting and audits
• Review and challenge risk assessments, regulatory change gap analyses and local procedures

Required profile

• Experience providing day-to-day advice on compliance, conduct and reputational risks, including Compliance Policy and Standards
• Experience acting as a regulatory and technical subject matter specialist for the thematic areas across APAC
• Ability to give practical, timely advice on business activities, strategic change and technology, and to escalate significant concerns
• Leadership expectations: either leading a team with the LEAD behaviours, or being a subject matter expert who guides technical direction and mentors specialists
• Legal right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship must be declared if applicable
