Chemical & Gas Engineer - Semiconductor Facilities

About the role

The Chemical & Gas Engineer supports the design, operation and optimisation of chemical and gas delivery systems for semiconductor manufacturing facilities. The role ensures system reliability, safety compliance, capacity planning, troubleshooting, project execution and continuous improvement, working with internal teams, contractors and equipment suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare engineering studies covering state-of-the-art system design, capacity and capability analysis, future requirements and code compliance
• Maintain engineering databases for capacity tracking, capital equipment and cash flow project management
• Support start-up of new equipment and its interface with mechanical and electrical systems
• Specify critical components and ensure designs meet codes such as IFC, IBC, NEC, NFPA, FM, CGA and Semi standards
• Study emerging facilities technologies and take part in mid-to-long term infrastructure planning
• Work with the in-house TGCM contractor to keep the chemical and gas delivery system running smoothly
• Review and improve O&M SOPs and RA, troubleshoot systems with contractors and OEMs, and verify work against safety guidelines
• Plan facility, plant, office and production equipment layouts, coordinate with architects and engineers on design criteria and drawings, and prepare bid sheets and contracts
• Estimate design costs and inspect construction progress against drawings, specifications and schedules
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly and contribute to continuous improvement

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent discipline
• Strong analytical, logical and critical thinking skills
• Effective communicator who collaborates across all levels
• Growth mindset and interest in the semiconductor industry; internship or experience there is a plus
• Knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred
