Chemical Laboratory Engineer

About the role

Micron's Chemical Laboratory Team supports technological development and production activities worldwide with state-of-the-art analysis. This engineer works in a clean-room Fab facility and chemical laboratory environment, analyzing routine samples and reporting to internal customers.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze routine samples following SOPs and report findings on compounds or compound quantities
• Use instruments such as ICP-MS, ICP-OES and ion chromatography
• Prepare samples and reagents, including vapor phase deposition, extraction, digestion and serial dilution
• Develop and document new analytical techniques
• Install, operate, maintain and troubleshoot equipment
• Mentor and train junior team members and advise internal customers on chemistry matters
• Follow safety procedures and take part in TPM activities, including 6S audits, housekeeping and stock of reagents, standards, spare parts and consumables
• Keep the Chemistry Laboratory Manager informed on tool and area issues
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly and contribute to continuous improvement

Required profile

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, Materials Science, Life Sciences or Environmental Engineering
• Strong analytical, logical and critical thinking skills
• Effective communicator who collaborates across all levels
• Growth mindset, leadership and a track record of impact are highly desirable
• Knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred

Required skills

• Experience with ICP-MS and ICP-OES is a plus
• Internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus
• Baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy
