Civil Supervisor – Sewer Trench Works

About the role

The Civil Supervisor will lead daily sewer trench excavation and pipe‑laying activities, ensuring all works follow approved drawings, specifications and project schedules. This on‑site role requires close coordination with engineers, surveyors, subcontractors and equipment operators to deliver safe and quality underground utility works.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise trench alignment, depth, width, levels and gradients before and during pipe installation.
• Oversee shoring, dewatering, backfilling and compaction to maintain a safe work environment.
• Coordinate manhole construction, pipe jointing, bedding and connections.
• Monitor daily manpower, machinery, materials and progress, preparing daily reports and inspection records.
• Conduct toolbox meetings, enforce safety requirements and ensure proper barricading, signage and housekeeping.
• Liaise with consultants, engineers and authorities for inspections, testing and commissioning of completed works.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in civil construction, sewer or underground utility works.
• Proven experience in sewer trench excavation and pipe‑laying projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Strong understanding of site safety standards and ability to work under pressure.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors.
