Cloud Engineer (Platform Operations)

About the role

We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to maintain and support our hybrid infrastructure across AWS and on‑premises environments. The role focuses on platform reliability, modern operational practices, and supporting migration and modernization initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain compute, storage, virtualization, and networking platforms in development, staging, and production on AWS and on‑premises.
• Implement automation, platform standards, and observability tooling to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Manage on‑premises virtualization (VMware or Hyper‑V) including capacity monitoring and lifecycle management.
• Provision, optimise costs, and operate core AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, and RDS.
• Execute automated patching, backup, disaster‑recovery, and high‑availability solutions.
• Provide L2/L3 incident support, problem determination, and resolution.
• Implement security controls, hardening, and compliance monitoring.
• Collaborate with application teams on performance, scalability, and stability.
• Maintain documentation, runbooks, and SOPs.
• Support containerisation and IaC initiatives using Kubernetes, ECS, Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience maintaining infrastructure platforms (compute, storage, virtualization, networking).
• Proven experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, CloudWatch).
• Experience managing on‑premises virtualization (VMware or Hyper‑V).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
• Knowledge of patching, backup, DR, and high‑availability practices.
• Understanding of security hardening, access management, and compliance.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with L2/L3 support experience.
• Effective communication and cross‑team collaboration.
