Commodity Buyer – Manufacturing Procurement

About the role

The company is a leading supplier of laser‑based manufacturing solutions for the microtechnology industry. We are looking for a Commodity Buyer to manage the purchase of goods and services that support our global multi‑plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering to acquire inventory cost‑effectively and on time.
• Process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, change orders and requests for quotes.
• Maintain procurement system data, part parameters, quote tables and supplier database information.
• Monitor cost, schedule and scope of sub‑contracts and negotiate for best quality and value.
• Work closely with suppliers and quality assurance to resolve quality issues and handle material quality notifications.
• Implement engineering change notices and support new product introductions, including RFQs for Asian localization.
• Manage supply‑base performance and contribute to global material initiatives.
• Negotiate supplier terms, pricing, lead times and provide market analysis.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree from an accredited college/university.
• Minimum of 5 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of MRP, inventory and production principles.
• Fluent English communication, both oral and written.
• Proven negotiation abilities and experience working with suppliers.
• Self‑starter with analytical and problem‑solving skills.
