Commodity Manager – Sheet Metal & Fabrication

About the role

We are seeking a senior Commodity Manager to lead the procurement strategy for mechanical spend, specifically sheet metal and fabrication, within a global industrial manufacturing organization. The role will drive transformation, manage risk, and deliver cost‑saving initiatives across the supplier lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute commodity management strategies for sheet metal and fabrication.
• Lead the full supplier management cycle: sourcing, qualification, negotiation, onboarding, performance evaluation and development.
• Conduct spend analysis, contract and risk management, and ensure compliance with best procurement practices.
• Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and cross‑functional teams to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Mentor and develop a small procurement team (2‑3 members).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s/MBA preferred).
• 7+ years of experience in commodity management or strategic sourcing of mechanical spend within an industrial/equipment manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record of delivering cost‑saving or avoidance targets.
• Experience working in a global MNC across US, Europe and Asian time zones.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin for supplier communication.

• Mechanical drawings/specifications interpretation.
