Communication System Engineer – Rail & Metro Projects

About the role

The incumbent will design, implement, test and support data communication systems for rail and metro transportation projects, both locally and overseas. The role combines network engineering, cybersecurity, and project coordination to ensure reliable, secure communication infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, select, implement, test and commission data communication systems for rail and metro projects.
• Apply cybersecurity measures to protect radio communication systems.
• Conduct proof‑of‑concept, factory acceptance, and system integration tests before field deployment.
• Perform system acceptance testing with customers and hand over the solution.
• Monitor system health, troubleshoot faults using automated tools, and maintain high availability.
• Configure and install transport network equipment (e.g., Huawei, Nokia) and LAN equipment (e.g., Cisco, Huawei, Alcatel‑Lucent).
• Participate in project meetings, manage documentation, and support overall project execution.
• Liaise with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors to meet project timelines.

Required profile

• 1‑5 years of experience with WAN/LAN technologies (IP‑MPLS, OSPF, ERP).
• Good understanding of cybersecurity principles and wireless communication systems.
• Willingness to travel overseas and adapt to railway engineering schedules.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Required skills

• CCNA, CCNP, HCIA, HCIP (or similar certifications) – advantageous.
• Experience with Cisco, Alcatel‑Lucent, Extreme, Huawei network devices.
• Network design, planning, implementation and troubleshooting.
• Configuration of transport network equipment (Huawei, Nokia) and LAN equipment.
