Communications Systems Engineer

About the role

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore is recruiting a Communications Systems Engineer to join the team supporting the delivery and maintenance of its 24/7 mission-critical communications systems. The role suits candidates at the start of their career and includes on-the-job training and mentorship. You will learn to help deliver and maintain systems in line with international standards such as ICAO and ITU, and support enhancements to software and hardware under the guidance of senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Support the operation and maintenance of 24/7 mission-critical communications systems, including after-hours support on a rostered basis where applicable.
• Help investigate, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, working with senior engineers to find root causes.
• Support enhancements to software and hardware, such as configuration, testing, deployment and post-implementation support.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors on maintenance and enhancements, including scheduling, tracking actions and documentation.
• Research emerging technologies and prepare summaries to support assessments for use in existing or new systems.
• Take part in ICAO/ITU-related activities such as preparing materials, tracking actions and coordinating follow-ups.

Required profile

• Training in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• Candidates with little or no prior full-time work experience are welcome; strong fundamentals and willingness to learn are key.
• Keen interest in radiocommunication technologies and relevant standards and regulations.
• Self-motivated team player who is coachable and works well with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to produce clear documentation; presentation skills are a plus.
• Ability to organise and prioritise tasks in a structured, safety- and quality-focused environment.
