Contracts Associate

About the role

The Contracts Associate will support Surbana Jurong’s project teams by shaping procurement strategies, drafting tender documents, and providing expert contractual advice throughout the project lifecycle. This role is pivotal in ensuring contracts are robust, compliant, and aligned with the company’s risk management standards.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate procurement strategies and advise on appropriate contract forms.
• Prepare tender documentation, focusing on contractual provisions, and manage the pre‑qualification and tender administration processes.
• Evaluate tender submissions, compile recommendation reports, and support claim negotiations.
• Draft contractual correspondence, review variation, extension of time, and loss & expense claims.
• Maintain a project contractual risk register and monitor legal developments in the construction sector.
• Facilitate dispute resolution and manage contractual changes with contractors.

Required profile

• Recognised degree in Law and/or Quantity Surveying with a solid understanding of construction processes.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a QS consulting environment, preferably on infrastructure, container ports, marine terminals, or coastal development projects.
• Familiarity with Public Sector Standard Conditions of Contract and various contract conditions.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and mediation abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel overseas as required.
