Cost Accounting Manager – Finance & Planning

About the role

The Cost Accounting Manager partners with business units to oversee inventory and cost management, driving product profitability and supporting the company’s growth objectives. This role is central to financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and providing analytical insights for strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead periodic cost accounting close, balance‑sheet reconciliation, and variance analysis for financial reporting.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to analyse manufacturing cost variances, product margins and initiate improvement projects.
• Review weekly margin reports, work orders and manufacturing variances to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Support annual cost roll‑out, cost simulations and the development of costing methodologies.
• Partner with Inventory Control for quarterly E&O reviews, physical counts and daily cycle counts.
• Provide FP&A support for the annual operating plan, forecast flash, and quarterly business reviews.
• Maintain internal controls, ensure SOX compliance and support US GAAP, tax and statutory audits.
• Drive continuous improvement and work with IT to enhance cost accounting systems.

Required profile

• Recognised university degree in finance, accounting or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management and financial reporting.
• Experience with SOX compliance and US GAAP regulations.
